A Visit to Hanwell Cemetery

I decided to write this blog as a quick guide for those looking for the grave of the late architectural critic and writer, Ian Nairn after a friend and I tried to find the site of Nairn's grave recently and all of the information online was frustratingly vague. The cemetery itself doesn't even acknowledge Nairn on its website or its site maps, while the encyclopedic website findagrave.com lists Nairn but its references are useless in tracking down the grave site itself. Several bloggers have written about paying their respects to the grave but withheld the crucial details of how to actually locate it. Perhaps they enjoy being the keepers of secret knowledge, but this goes against the grain of Nairn's own ethos and writings, so if you are searching online for how to find his final place of rest I hope the information below is of some help. The grave is in the City of Westminster Cemetery on Uxbridge Road, Hanwell. This is not to be confused with the Kensington and Chelsea
